Next week, buy an Xbox One and get any new game for free

Xbone get one game free promoBeginning on Sunday June 21st, gamers who purchase an Xbox One will receive another game for free, according to Xbox’s Major Nelson.  This offer, which will run through June 27th, is valid on both the 500GB models of the Xbox One and the new 1TB models of the Xbox One.  This also includes the bundles that come with games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection or the one that arrives with both Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Black Flag.  We don’t currently know what retailers will participate in this deal, but it is probably safe to assume that places like Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Gamestop will be involved.

As to what your free game can be, it’s seemingly totally up to you.  Major Nelson revealed it can be literally any new Xbox One title that’s MSRP does not exceed $59.99 (the standard price for a new game).  So, gamers who want the brand new Batman: Arkham Knight and an Xbox One are in luck as those are both apart of the promotion.  As the image above shows, it can also include games like Forza Horizon 2, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Dragon Age: Inquisition, or the phenomenal Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.  Microsoft ran a similar promotion to this last year around the launch of Destiny, seemingly to combat the PlayStation 4 Destiny bundle.  It should be noted that the PS4 has a Batman: Arkham Knight bundle starting next week as well.

The Steam Summer Sale has begun!!!!

Hide your wallets everyone!  The Steam Summer Sale has begun!!!!  With discounts as high as 95% off, nearly every title on Steam is on sale right now.  The sale will run from today until June 30th, and will feature daily deals, flash sales and community choice sales.  As always, the community choice sales are based on votes, but this summer sale sees players vote on a block of four games versus another block of four that will presumably be on sale for that time period.

The highlights of the first daily deals are The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings for an astoundingly low $3.99, XCOM: Enemy Unknown for $7.49, Far Cry 3 for $7.49 and Don’t Starve for $3.74.  The Flash Sales are highlighted by Hotline Miami for just $1.49 and Dead Island Riptide for $4.99.  Check back on Steam every eight hours for even more deals and insanely steep discounts.

Gamestop’s Easter sale offer buy two, get one on games $19.99 and under

Gamestop logo

Gamestop is offering gamers a good sale for this Easter weekend, with buy two, get one on all games under $19.99.  The promotion began yesterday, and available at both Gamestop’s many brick and mortar stores, as well as Gamestop.com.    Naturally, the free title you receive is the title with the lowest cost.  Unfortunately, the $19.99 and under stipulation takes next-gen games off the table, but owners of PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and 3DS are certainly in for a deal.  The deal ends on Sunday, the 20th.

Hundreds of great games are available in this deal.  Looking for a shooter?  I’d recommend Halo 3, Uncharted 2, or Bioshock.  How about an RPG?  My go-to’s are Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, or Fable 3.  Honestly, basically every great game from the last-generation is on this deal.  If you need a recommendation, I’d be happy to give you one for any genre, just let me know in the comments.

Target has buy two, get one free on all games this week

target-banner

According to both their weekly ad, and game section of Target.com Target is running a promotion for the next week of buy two games, get one free on all games both online at Target.com and in store.  This promotion last Sunday, April 6th through Saturday the 12th.  This deal is good on all games, across all system, and even the next-gen.  It will also include games that come out this week, like Kinect Sports Rivals.

If you are looking to pick up some new games for far less costs, this is the time to do.  Stores generally open around 8am, and the website should be updated to feature the deal by that time as well, so jump at it early if you want the deal.  Target’s policy on this type of sale is that it’s only on the stock they have, no rainchecks.  Personally, as I just got an Xbox One, I am picking up Dead Rising 3, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare and one other game that I’m currently not sure on.  Any recommendations?  What are you going to pick up?  Let me know in the comments below

The Titanfall Xbox One bundle is $50 off today at Best Buy and Walmart

Titanfall Xbox OneTitanfall’s Xbox One bundle has been a big system seller for Microsoft, as well as one of the biggest games of this spring.  If you haven’t gotten your hands on it, two retailers are making it even cheaper for gamers to get it.  Walmart and Best Buy are both offering $50 off the bundle, putting it at a cool $450.  Due to retailer agreements, they are not allowed to display the cheap price until checkout.

Neither Walmart or Best Buy are indicating how long the discount will be available for, so jump on it now if you are planning on it.  Both bundles are available for in-store pick-up if you prefer getting it today, so head over to Walmart.com or Bestbuy.com to get in on the deal.  Titanfall has been one of the best shooters I’ve played in quite some time, and I will have my full review of the game up in the next few days.  I apologize for the delay, but working at an Irish Pub over St. Patrick’s day weekend kept me quite busy.

Forza Motorsport 5 will be free with purchase of an Xbox One in the coming weeks

Forza 5

Microsoft’s Major Nelson announced today that starting next week at specific, currently unspecified, retailers buyers of an Xbox One will receive a free copy of Forza Motorsport 5.  This deal will not stack with the Titanfall bundle, however, as confirmed by Major Nelson on Twitter.  This deal will only run for a limited time, so Major Nelson encouraged gamers to “Check with your local retailer for details”.

We will update this post as soon as we learn which retailers will be involved in this promotion.
