Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs has sold over four million copies in it’s first week. The news was broken on Ubisoft’s Ubiblog today, saying that Watch Dogs is now the best selling New IP in the video game industry, and Ubisoft’s best-selling game ever in week one.  This is after Watch Dogs broke Ubisoft’s Day One sales records, after the game sold over one million on the first day.

“With such strong sales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s senior vice president of sales and marketing told the Ubiblog. “We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.”  I reviewed Watch Dogs, calling it a great start to a new franchise, and well worth your $60.

PS4 sells over 1 million units in the first 24 hours of sale

SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT AMERICA LLC LOGOSony announced today that sales of the PS4 surpassed 1 million units during it’s first 24 hours of availability.  These numbers are for America alone as well, as the PS4 does not launch in Europe or Latin America until later this month.  TFor comparison, the PS3 sold 197,000 during it’s first two weeks, and the Wii U sold 425,000 in it’s first week at retail.

As many expected, the demand for the PS4 was incredibly high.  Son’y Jack Tretton has predicted that the PS4 will sell 3 million units by the end of 2013, and it is forecasting 5 million by the end of the fiscal year (March 2014).  These numbers seem entirely feasible with the launches in nearly every other market, including Japan ion February 22nd, 2014.

This reporter’s opinion:  This number is absolutely insane.  For comparison’s sake, this graph (taken from Neogaf) shows off the first month sales data for many of the console of the last 15 years.  As you can see, the PS4 has eclipsed all of these numbers in a mere 24 hours.  Sony has really earned this great launch as well, but needs to work on fixing there network and keep on trucking.  This generation is just starting.
