A new challengers arrives! Today, Nintendo revealed Shulk of the Xenoblade series will join the fray in the upcoming Super Smash Bros game. Shulk seems to be another heavy sword character, similar to Marth and Link. His sword may have different styles, not unlike the recent edition of Robin, from Fire Emblem, though Robin uses different spells for different effects. Shulk is the first Xenoblade character to join a Smash Bros game, but the series will certainly become more known to fans over the next year or so. A Xenoblade sequel is coming to Wii U next year, and a 3DS title was announced just today.
This announcement basically confirms earlier leaks of the final Smash Bros roster. The other brand new characters yet to be revealed are Bowser Jr. and the Dog from Duck Hunt. On top of that, returning favorites like Falco, R.O.B. and Dr. Mario appeared on the leak as well. Shulk will be on the roster of both the 3DS and Wii U versions of the new Smash Bros title. The 3DS version is set to launch on October 3rd of this year, while the Wii U variant is set for a still vague Holiday 2014 release.
