The developers of PayDay are creating a Walking Dead video game

Overkill Software, the creators of the PayDay franchise, has announced they are making an all new Walking Dead video game in collaboration with it’s creator Robert Kirkman and his Skybound studio.  According to Overkill the game is “a co-op first person shooter with elements of action, role-playing, survival horror and stealth, that invites players to explore the hugely popular The Walking Dead universe, where they will play the role of survivors fending for themselves in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating walkers.”  They went on to say that fans of the series can expect the game to carry the same tone as the incredibly popular comics are known for.

Robert Kirkman announced the game in a post to PayDay 2’s Steam community page, writing “I’m a huge fan of what OVERKILL and Starbreeze have been able to do with PAYDAY 2. It’s just an amazing co-operative game and I’m excited to be able to announce that Skybound is partnering with OVERKILL to make a Walking Dead game. I’m happy to say that it’s the co-op game that all of the Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.”  This new title will be completely separate from Telltale’s The Walking Dead series and Activision’s The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.  It will follow an all new cast of characters as they try to survive in the Zombie Apocalypse.  The game seems to be taking place in Washington DC, as it’s tagline is “In 2016 Washington will fall – what will you do?”  As you may have guessed, the game will launch in 2016.  No platforms have been announced, but a PC release is practically guaranteed.
