At a panel today at San Diego Comic-Con, 343 Industries gave the world it’s first look at Halo: Nightfall, the upcoming digital series coming from Microsoft and executive producer Ridley Scott. The story will follow Halo 5: Guardians’ protagonist Jameson Locke, as he and his team investigate a mineral that’s only purpose seems to be killing humans. Nightfall takes place in between Halo 4 and Halo 5, and will serve as a sort of origin story for Agent Locke. Locke is a “legendary manhunter and agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI)”, and seems to be on the trail of Master Chief in Halo 5. Mike Colter (The Following, The Good Wife) plays Locke in the series, and is doing mo-cap and voice work for the character in Halo 5.
343 went on to confirm many fan’s suspicions that Agent Locke will be playable in Halo 5. One major question still to be answered is whether Agent Locke is a friend or foe to the Chief. Frank O’Connor declined to answer, but teased “We’ll answer that question one year from now in this very room.” The team behind Nightfall was vague, but teased that the series will feature interactive elements as well. We’ll learn more about Agent Locke and his connection to the Chief when The Master Chief Collection releases on November 11th, 2014.
