Yoshinori Ono, executive producer on the Street Fighter franchise and co-producer of Dead Rising, has announced his resignation from Capcom Vancouver this morning on Twitter.  Ono wrote “I resigned from the director position about CAPCOM Vancouver. Thanks good staff of CAPCOM Vancouver, and Dead Rising staff!”  This tweet was followed with another, saying “I had take some time, I think over very carefully about next things. I’d like to watch TV for Brazil World Cup before thinking it! :D”

Ono’s status inside of Capcom is currently uncertain.  His linkedin profile still states he is Head of Consumer Games Development Division 2 at Capcom as well as a Corporate officer for the Japanesse gaming giant.  In contrast, his linkedin is updated showing Capcom Vancouver as part of his past work.  Ono is also slated to executive produce two upcoming titles, deep down and an unannounced PS4 title.  Last week, it was reported that Capcom was considering a “pay-to-win” system for Street Fighter V, but Ono quickly denounced those reports, saying they were not accurate.  “Sorry for the confusion! We’re still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date.”

We will keep you updated as soon as more information is available.

Update: Ono has gone on to clarify that he is still with Capcom, just that his role with Vancouver has ended.  “My position within Capcom has not changed and I’m still involved in all of the projects that I’m currently working on.” “Only my role for Capcom Vancouver has ended.”
