Nintendo has announced that Pac-man, the Bandai-Namco mascot, will be joining the battle of Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS. Pac-man will swap between two and 3D forms mid-fight in Smash, letting him pull off trademark Pac-man moves like EATING EVERYTHING. A Pac-Man stage was revealed for the 3DS version, which was based around the original arcade version of Pac-Man. The trailer shows just how far we’ve come since the early 90s console war, with Mario, Mega Man, Sonic, and Pac-man all now appearing in the same game.
Joining Pac-man is a returning Mr. Game & Watch. Previously playable in Melee, Mr. Game & Watch was skipped for Brawl. No real gameplay of Game & Watch was shown, he was merely showcased in a joke showing that he and Pac-Man were the predecessors to Mario and Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong released to arcades in 1981, while Pac-man and Mr. Game & Watch were launched in 1980. No release date was yet given for the Wii U version, but the 3DS version will launch on October 3rd.
