Nintendo unveils Gamecube controller adapter for Wii U

Gamecube Wii USmash fans who can’t live without the classic Gamecube controller rejoice!  During today’s reveals about the upcoming Smash Tournament at E3, Nintendo also unveiled an adapter for the Wii U that will allow Gamecube controllers to be playable on Wii U.  It will be compatible with the upcoming version of Super Smash Bros Wii U, and will presumably be at E3’s tournament as well.  No other game’s have currently been announced as compatible with this adapter.

No details were given on the price of the adapter, but it is presumed to be releasing later this year, to coincide with the release of Super Smash Bros Wii U.  Another, possible, announcement, is that Nintendo may start making official Gamecube controllers again.  The controller featured in the photo to the right has never been seen before.  Nintendo may be preparing to fully leverage Smash Bros as it’s Wii U seller by giving fans exactly what they’ve been clamoring for.
