Origin introduces “On the House” program for free games, starts with Dead Space

Origin, EA’s PC gaming client, has introduced an all new program where they will be giving out free games.  Called the “On the House” program, Origin will be offering full games, expansions and more for zero dollars.  No signing up for some program, no timed demo, nothing.  Just a free game for having an Origin account.

On the announcement page, EA explained the decision saying “We’re gamers, too. We appreciate you making Origin your gaming home … and besides, who doesn’t like free stuff?”  In all actuality, this is likely a push to increase Origin’s client base, but free is free.  The first free game is Dead Space from Visceral Games.  Dead Space was a shot in the arm to the horror game genre in 2008, and spawned arguably the most successful horror game franchise of the last generation.  If you want to get in on this deal, just download the Origin client, and get Dead Space for free.  No word on how long this deal will last, so jump on it while you can!
