The PS4 is going up, yes you read that right, up in price in Canada. Sony made the announcement on Friday in a statement, which reads “The PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system delivers phenomenal play experiences that will shape the world of games for years to come and has quickly become the next gen console of choice with gamers in Canada. To respond to changes in the market environment, the price of PlayStation 4 will be revised from CAD $399.99 to $449.99 MSRP.”
On top of that, the cost of the PS4’s camera as well as it’s controller will go up by $5 each, to $64.99. First party games like MLB 14 The Show and Infamous Second Son will also go up in price by $10 each, up to $69.99. The assumed reason for this price increase is the devaluing of the Canadian dollar. This is not the first time Sony increased a console’s price due to weak currency. In 2007 they increased the price of the PS3 due to the weak Canadian dollar.
