Harmonix announces Chroma, a music-based first person shooter

Harmonix and Hidden Path Entertainment have revealed a surprising new title called Chroma.  It’s a music and rythme-based first person shooter.  Sound is your weapon in Chroma, with your guns firing different bits of music with each shot.  The world will change as the music playing, with the level warping based on the tempo.  I’m not doing this game any justice with my explanation, so check out Polygon, Kotaku, or Engadget‘s detailed look at the game.

The game is expected to be free to play, and is still in the very early stages of development, according to Kotaku.  No release date has been announced, but the game’s rough alpha will apparently be rolling out this month on PC.  We will keep you updated on this intriguing new game.
