During today’s third quarter earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that Watch Dogs will be coming out in the first fiscal quarter of 2014-15. The first quarter encompasses April through June, so expect Watch Dogs somewhere in their. If I had to guess, I’d say a concrete release date is likely in the next few weeks, or within the next two months. Ubisoft also confirmed five major releases in the fiscal year 2014-15, including Just Dance, The Crew and Watch Dogs. Safe money is the fourth is an Assassin’s Creed, and fifth is a complete mystery. Rainbow Six? The Division?
Guillemot went on to say that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs will launch even later then it’s PC, PlayStation and Xbox counterparts. “We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft.” This is certainly not the first setback for the Wii U with it’s third party support, and I doubt it will be the last. Batman Arkham Origins, for example, will not be getting story DLC, and already had no multiplayer.
