Sly, Bentley, and Murray are getting their own movie! Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment are developing a Sly Cooper movie for theatrical release in 2016! Kevin Munroe, director of TMNT and Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, will be directing the film. According to the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, the film follows Sly and the gang as they try to reassemble the Thievius Raccoonus before it falls into the hands of Clockwork. This is also the plot of the first game, though I doubt it will be anywhere near as massive as that game was.
It seems like the voice actor for Sly has changed, though Bentley and Murray remain the same. I’ll personally miss Kevin Miller, although this actor does a reasonably good job. Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment are the team behind the upcoming Ratchet and Clank film as well, which will see a release in 2015.
This reporter’s opinion: Wow, all of my favorite PlayStation games are getting made into movies. This is just plain awesome. Sly Cooper will make an awesome heist film for younger ages, plus the (hopefully) eventual fight against Clockwork will be great. No Kevin Miller for the voice of Sly is quite disappointing though. Granted, this fella does well, I’ve just grown up with Kevin Miller.
