Microsoft has announced that Windows Mobile and Windows 8 twin stick shooter, Halo: Spartan Assault, will be coming to the Xbox One on December 24th, and the Xbox 360 in January 2014.  The game will cost $14.99, but is available for a discounted $4.99 if you purchase the game on Windows 8 or Mobile prior to December 15th.

The console versions of the game will be fully optimized to run on the new platforms, features an all new co-op mode, the “Operation: Hydra” add-on, and see the return of The Flood.  Gamers can still earn rewards for Halo 4 by playing Spartan Assault like they could with the mobile or 8 version as well.  The title will run at a native 1080p resolution and “smooth” 60 frames per second as well.

Spartan Assault is the story of Spartan Sara Palmer during the time between Halo 3 and Halo 4.  Many of the missions follow Palmer fighting covenant forces that still stood to war against the humans, even after the peace treaty brokered with the Arbiter.
