Another Lego game appears to be on the way, this time based on Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films. Alleged leaked promotional materials (seen above and below) have popped up on the Brickset, a Lego news site and store. No additional information was given by there poster “sidersdd”, but the first photo features prominent Hobbit protagonists Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, and Thorin Oakenshield, while the second simply features Bilbo reaching for the One Ring.
Animato studios has said the images were from the newest line of Hobbit Lego sets, which won’t available in the US until December. The game seems to be slated for Xbox 360, Wii U, PS3, PC, and 3DS. It is also likely that the games will be coming to the Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita as the most recent Lego game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, had versions for the three consoles.
This would not be the first Lego game set in Tolkien’s universe; Traverse Tale released Lego Lord of the Rings in 2012 to positive reviews. It’s safe to assume that game would serve as a template for the new Hobbit title as well. Two more Hobbit films are still on the way, with The Desolation of Smaug coming to theaters on December 13th, and There and Back Again presumably releasing in December 2014. We will update you guys with any official information as soon as we learn it.
