Xbox One sales surpass 1 million in 24 hours

Xbox_Consle_Sensr_controllr_F_TransBG_RGB_2013Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One is now the biggest launch in Xbox history.  The Xbox One’s sales have surpassed 1 million units sold to customers in the first 24 hours.  As you probably know, the Xbox One launched in 13 countries yesterday, including the US, UK, Canada and many more.  For context, the PS4 sold over 1 million units within the first 24 hours as well, but just in the United States and Canada.

Microsoft went on to confirm that these consoles were sold to customers, not just to retailers.  These figures dwarf day one sales of the Xbox 360, original Xbox, Wii U, and really every other console besides the PS4.  We will likely never know which console sold more in the first day, but it’s safe to assume each of these console are extremely popular.

I haven’t picked up an Xbox One yet, but to any of you who have, what do you think of it?  Does it live up to your expectations?  Which games did you buy?  Let us know in the comments.

This reporter’s opinion: This is a great time for gamers.  I don’t care if you are a PS4 gamer, Xbox gamer, Nintendo gamer, mobile gamer, or PC gamer, this is a great time.  Each new console generation brings new energy to the gaming world and this new gen is no different.  The team at Microsoft has really turned things around for them ever since their disastrous launch, and are now making this a real competition.  I love it.  Good work Microsoft, and enjoy your consoles everyone.
