Charles Bellfield, former spokeman and Vice President of Sega America, passed away on Friday night. Bellfield’s brother made the announcement on Facebook, saying he passed away on Friday, and he received an outpouring of support from family, friends and fans alike.
Bellfield was known as the bulldog for Sega of America from 98-03′, where he oversaw the release of the Sega Dreamcast, which had an arguably great console launch in terms of games. Bellfield went on to work in executive roles in companies like Capcom, Codemaster’s and Edelmen.
Peter Moore, Bellfield’s boss during his time at Sega, took to twitter to wish his condolences, calling Chalres “A friend, confidant, life of any party. Video game industry PR icon and all-around great guy. Gone too soon…” Other gaming industry figures like Gametrailer’s Geoff Keighley, and Rare’s Craig Duncan also expressed their condolences.
We here at the League of Mediocre Gamers want to send our sincerest condolences to the Bellfield family.
