The next Battlefront game has been wanted by gamers ever since Battlefront 2 was released in 2005. A follow-up was in development at Free radical for some time, but the company went bankrupt, and it was not pursued any further. Almost everyone felt the dream of the title was lost when Disney closed Lucasart, but Star Wars lived beyond Lucasarts. In May, EA and Disney signed a multi-year deal to be the exclusive developer of Star Wars titles. The studios involved would be DICE, Bioware and Visceral.
All signs would point to the shooter developer, DICE, creating an all new Battlefront title, and those signs were spot on. At E3, EA announced a new Battlefront title was on the way from DICE, though no time frame was given for release. This changed today, during EA’s annual Stockholder’s meeting.
CFO Blake Jogensen said Battlefront will “most likely come out around the same time that the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of ’15.” As you may know, Star wars Episode VII is set to release in 2015, and presumably in the summer.
