PS4 will allow for cross game chat without Playstation Plus

At E3, we learned that the PS4 would require a PlayStation Plus to play online multiplayer, unlike the PS3 which currently has it for free.  PS4 was also revealed to finally be getting cross game or “party” chat similar to Xbox Live.  No word was given on if this would require the newly upped PlayStation Plus.

Today, a video was released saying that in fact no you will not have to pay money for Cross Game chat.  The video can be found below, and it reiterates that Free-to-play games will also not require a Playstation Plus account.

This reporter’s opinion:  This a major step for PlayStation Network to equal and surpass Xbox Live.  Xbox Live currently does require Gold for part chat, and there’s no indication that will change on Xbox One.  The PS4 will also allow Netflix, Crackle and other services without PS+, where Xbox requires Gold for them.
